Belgians implant RFID chip in tooth

Belgian scientists at the Catholic University of Leuven have embedded an RFID chip into a tooth to show how detailed personal information can be stored.

Patrick Thevissen and his team adapted a tag which vets already implant into animals. If you lose your chipped dog, vets can retrieve the pet's home address from the device.

In the case of humans, however, the intention of the ID tag is to allow forensic teams to retrieve a person's name, nationality, date of birth and gender allowing identification after, say, a natural disaster.

Experiments show that the tags withstand temperature changes of up to 450 °C - so they're pretty well vindaloo-proof - but repeated expansion and contraction of the tooth is still a problem, requiring the use of an insulating layer.

However, Dr Thevissen believes teeth are - as the strongest and longest-lived parts of the body - the best place to store information.

The Collapse of Building 7 by Arthur Scheuerman Jan. 22 07

WTC’s Building 7 was a 47-story office building completed in 1987 by Silverstein Properties on land owned by the Port Authority. It was built according to PA-NY-NJ codes developed for tenant alterations in the tower buildings. Building 7 was not hit by any planes but had some damage from parts of Tower 1 impacting the south wall. Because of the damage to the building and the failure of the water supply, after talking to the owner, the Fire Department decided to evacuate the building and not to attempt to control the fires but to let them burn out. Since it was a “fire resistive” building, there would have been every expectation that the fires would burn out without any local or global collapse. However, given that the towers had collapsed and that there had been a serious interior collapse of Building 5, there was concern, and the collapse area around the building was cleared. The building suffered global collapse from fire after several hours of uncontrolled burning. There were no known injuries or fatalities in the collapse.

This association of professional people is a breath of fresh air for those of us that have been combing the innertubes for certified truth about the destruction of the World Trade Center. WASHINGTON - Scientists say they have detected the brightest stellar explosion ever recorded, a new breed of supernova that may well be repeated sooner than they previously thought.

The violent explosion was observed by ground-based telescopes as well as NASA's orbiting Chandra X-Ray Observatory in a galaxy far from our own Milky Way. But the observations hint that an erupting star in our own galaxy, called Eta Carinae, could be close to the same kind of blast, astronomers say in a paper to be published in The Astrophysical Journal.

For years, scientists have been looking for a blast this big, but never found one until last September. After months of analysis, the research team discussed their findings at a news conference Monday here at NASA Headquarters.

Well, he's the one in the drivers seat, and he seems to be saying that whatever is behind him doesn't matter and it's peddle to the metal into the surge. It has been said that he is a brilliant general, but this seems like a pretty cavalier statement to me.

Why "We The People" are glad that Bill Moyers is back on PBS

In December 2003 George W Bush appointed Gay Hart Gaines as the head of Corporate Public Broadcasting, which controls government funding for PBS. She was a Bush Ranger in 2004 (re: contributed $100,000 to canpaign). Mainstream media wasn't enough for Bush & Co. they had to control PBS too, and Bill Moyers was at the top of their hit list.

For reasons unbeknownst to me Bill Moyers is back, and from what is being said he will be on every week with Bill Moyers Journal. It is easy to see why he has chosen Media Wars as his subject. Not many people knew about this program, but it's a normal day. It was only advertised on PBS and the internet.

A few weeks ago, Bill Moyers, the venerable face of progressive current-affairs analysis on television, warned that the next four years were set to be a golden age for Watergate-style sleuth reporters. "I just think every time you wed the state and business together like this, you get corruption flowing like the Mississippi River," he announced on his PBS series, Now. Ironically, Moyers himself isn't sticking around to partake in the coming "bonanza for investigative journalism" he predicts. Although he's one of the few living media commentators whose folksy manner and heady background (he served as both a Baptist minister and a press secretary to President Lyndon Johnson) could conceivably bridge the gap between red state and blue state, secular and religious, Moyers is planning to retire from Now on December 17.

Now has been a focus for right-wing ire from the start. Moyers infuriated the right after the 2002 congressional elections with his take on the Republican mandate: "If you liked the Supreme Court that put George W. Bush in the White House, you will swoon over what's coming. And if you like God in government, get ready for the Rapture." Using the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a body that provides funding to certain PBS shows, the right seems to be enforcing "balance" by financially supporting a raft of new public-affairs programming. Along with Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered and The Journal Editorial Report, there's a series co-hosted by "family values"-defending culture critic Michael Medved in the works for late 2005.

The CPB was originally created to buffer PBS from political pressure, but some of the recent appointees appear blatantly partisan, such as Gay Hart Gaines, who chaired Newt Gingrich's political action committee, and Cheryl Halpern, clearly introduced to be some kind of watchdog. During the November 2003 Senate Commerce Committee's confirmation hearings for Halpern, Senator Trent Lott blasted Moyers's post-election commentary as "the most blatantly partisan, irresponsible thing I've ever heard in my life, and yet [the CPB] has not seemed to be willing to deal with Bill Moyers and that type of programming." Halpern responded: "The fact of the matter is, I agree." For his part, Moyers didn't hide his feelings about the new blood at the CPB, dubbing the new appointees "ideological warriors" and telling writer Ken Auletta, "This is the first time in my thirty-two years in public broadcasting that C.P.B. has ordered up programs for ideological instead of journalistic reasons."

Cheryl Feldman Halpern is the chair of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). She was appointed in 2005. An active Republican, she was chair of the Republican Jewish Coalition for eight years. In this capacity, she has been a critic of National Public Radio, accusing the public network of anti-Israeli bias. She has extensive experience with overseeing pro-American media campaigns abroad. In 1990, she was confirmed as a member of the Board for International Broadcasting and as a director of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). From 1995 through 2002, she served as a member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, which oversees non-military overseas broadcasts by the US Government such as Radio Martí, the Voice of America, and Radio Free Iraq.

Gay Hart Gaines is the vice chair for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. She was appointed to the board by George W. Bush in December 2003 for a term ending in 2010. She was elected as vice chair in September 2005 along with CPB chair Cheryl Halpern.

She is a long-time Republican Party fundraiser. The Nation's David Corn writes that Gaines and her husband Stanley Gaines "have contributed at least half a million dollars to GOP causes since 1998."[1] In 2004, she was a Bush Pioneer, bundling over $100,000 for Bush's reelection campaign.[2] Other Republican Party involvement includes being a charter member of GOPAC, which she chaired from 1993-1997.

Gaines came to the CPB with no previous experience in broadcasting. Common Causes' Cynthia Wexler pointed out that Gaines was "ardent fundraiser for Newt Gingrich in the days when Gingrich was really all about zeroing out the funds for Public Broadcasting."[3] According to her CPB biography, she is "an interior designer by training."

Gaines is affiliated with several right-wing organizations. Her CPB biography states that she is a current member of the American Enterprise Institute and the Heritage Foundation. She has also served as a board member of the Hudson Institute and was a chairman of the National Review Institute from 1991-1993.[4]

Just to let you know...I have called for the resignation of Aberto Gonzo, and voted against the war in Iraq. I can't talk about the details because if I did I might fall off of the fence. It isn't easy to do this balancing act and as you know I do my best to please everybody. Please accept my apologies for introducing the Digital Content Protection Act of 2006.

The United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled that the FCC had exceeded its authority in creating this rule. The court stated that the commission could not prohibit the manufacture of computer or video hardware without copy protection technology because the FCC only has authority to regulate communications, not devices that receive communications. It is possible that a higher court may overturn this ruling, or the United States Congress may grant such authority to the FCC. Some of the major U.S. television networks have stated in the past that they will stop broadcasting high-definition content if the rule does not go into effect.
As of June 21, 2005, there are rumors Hollywood is attempting to sneak the Broadcast Flag back as a rider on the Senate Appropriation bill.

On May 1, 2006, Sen. Ted Stevens inserted a version of the Broadcast Flag into the Communications, Consumer’s Choice, and Broadband Deployment Act of 2006. The draft section can be seen here , and the full text of the bill here . On June 22, 2006 Sen. John E. Sununu offered an amendment to strike the broadcast and radio flag[4], but this failed and the broadcast-flag amendment was approved by the Commerce committee, who at the same time voted down the network neutrality provisions . Nonetheless, the overall bill was never passed, and thus died upon adjournment of the 109th Congress in December 2006.

In an interview with CNN in the 5am hour this morning, Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR) hit Bush's new surge plan and said that Iraq was no longer a US fight. He also said he supported Sen. Ted Kennedy's (D-MA) proposal to have Congress to vote on any increase in troops.

Smith recently attracted media attention when he changed his position on the Iraq war.

I just want to tell everybody that when I speak from the left of center, that I mean that I will work for "We The People".

So..Starting on Jan. 1

I promise to do my best to:


Create a task force on global warming.

Create a government funded program to employ people who are out of work on alternative energy and conservation projects

To never lie.

Create a commitee to oversee lobbying activity, and make it a no money involved activity. Thats right...lobbying will basicly be handled like a charity. RE: Work toward making this an ownership society of small farms with water rights for organic crops and other such useful projects.
Reform the media. There is afterall a lot of information that could be on regular tv and radio.
Return free enterprise to the people. RE: if you would like to build an automobile that runs on hydrolics from a pollution free heat source without a transmission, differential, catylitic convertor, or air bags, that would be ok, even if it gets 200 mpg. And if you catch fish...You can sell them. Believe me, if we can be responsible for carrying our own health insurence, we can also be responsible for what we eat.

And...Many things that I'll be adding later.You tell me...I am afterall your representative in government.
